Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled, multi-disciplinary designer or technician to join our growing Applications team. This role covers a range of responsibilities including working with customers to tailor technical solutions, providing technical training and product commissioning, improving quality assurance processes, and researching and testing new hardware. In this role, the successful candidate will:
- Work directly with Product Development team leads, international customers, and our Sales team to address specialized customer requests and technical issues, lead complex technical projects, and provide creative technical solutions throughout all stages of customer engagement
- Support Manufacturing and Quality Assurance teams with improvements to QA procedures and documentation
- Test camera systems and prototypes for performance benchmarking (e.g., stabilization performance, camera target detection capability, vision algorithm testing, thermal camera comparisons, etc.)
- Leverage technical observations and customer feedback to initiate improvements to our products and processes
- Perform feasibility and development cost analysis for new product solutions
- Propose, source, develop, test, and document new system subcomponents, sensors, tools, and peripherals
- Travel to international sites for technical demonstrations, technical support, and trade shows
- Train and assist our Technical Service teams to effectively respond to support cases for global customers
- Create product demonstrations and other technical content such as white papers, videos, specifications, and feature descriptions for sales purposes
Skills/Experience Required:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechatronics, Integrated, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology/Engineering, or a related field
- Wide range of technical competency (computer systems, sensors, motors, software, etc.)
- Strong technical communication and reporting (spoken and written)
- Ability to bring creativity and positivity to on-the-fly problem-solving
- Passion for end-user satisfaction and working with real people to provide lasting technical solutions
- Ability to distill and present complex technical information and development paths in a clear and concise manner
- Strong organizational skills and ability to initiate/self-manage value-adding projects
- Excellent observation skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with command line interfaces, network interfaces, and programming languages
- Ability to excel in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and tasks
Additional Beneficial Skills:
- Specific experience with motors, control systems, electrical design, and/or software development
- Experience with electro-optical (EO) systems such as cameras, lasers, and thermal imaging
- Experience with engineering and production processes (Lean, ISO, etc.) and standards (MIL-STD, IEC, etc.)
- Experience in a customer-service or client-focused role, in a technical capacity
- Additional spoken and/or written languages
