Technical Service Representative

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled, multi-disciplinary individual to join our Technical Service team. This role is highly collaborative with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams, and primarily involves working with customers to resolve technical issues and provide tailored product solutions. Technical Service Team members are technical experts within our Sales department, whose aim is to provide long-term customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical communication between Sales and Engineering

o Presenting technical information to customers for potential sales

o   Advising on technical inquiries for new sales opportunities, helping answer compliance matrices

o   Working with Engineering to create new technical content to support Sales and customers

o   Setting up technical demos and collecting product demonstration data to support sales opportunities

  • Overseeing remote support and tracking repairs

o   Performing remote support sessions – typically troubleshooting remotely via email or remote desktop

o   Tracking and following up on service and support cases; maintaining records of non-conformances; identifying trends in issues

o   Tracking repair cases and ensuring due diligence for return to customer

o   Working with Application Engineering to improve processes and strategies for remote servicing

  • Advising and managing technical service strategy (e.g., recalls, repairs, remote support)

o   Coordinating details of timeline, technical components, documentation, and customer communication for remote servicing; Negotiating service strategy and priorities

o   Thinking “big picture” and long term strategy to create 24/7 support and a global network of qualified service technicians

  • Running training programs for customers & international service partners

o   Including operation, maintenance, installation, field servicing

o   Maintaining and improving technical training content

  • Performing remote demonstrations and product acceptance tests

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Requires multi-disciplinary background in both technical and customer service roles
  • Strong interpersonal communication, positive personality
  • Passion for end-user satisfaction and working with real people to provide lasting technical solutions
  • (preferred) Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Technical familiarity across various fields (software, networking, electronics, mechanical, etc.)
  • Ability to bring creativity and positivity to on-the-fly problem-solving in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Ability to distill and present complex technical information and development paths in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong technical communication and reporting (spoken and written)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to initiate/self-manage value-adding projects
  • Familiarity with command line interfaces, network interfaces, and programming languages
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and tasks

Additional Beneficial Skills: 

  •      Specific experience in a customer-service or client-focused role, in a technical capacity
  •      Experience with electro-optical (EO) systems such as cameras, lasers, and thermal imaging
  •      Experience with engineering and production processes (Lean, ISO, etc.) and engineering standards (MIL-STD, IEC, etc.)
  •     Additional spoken and/or written languages
