ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a practical, hands-on technical person to support product development, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing readiness. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys building, troubleshooting, learning by doing, and helping development teams turn ideas into working products. This person will build and test prototype and development units. Their focus will be developing test setups, performing verification and validation activities, documenting results, and helping troubleshoot issues under the guidance of senior technical staff. They will also provide practical feedback on assembly, fit, testability, and manufacturability.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Support development and validation activities by setting up equipment, following test instructions, collecting data, and documenting observations
- Create and adapt test plans, setups, and fixtures for prototypes, demos, or internal testing
- Build, modify, maintain, and manage prototypes, development units, and test articles with guidance from senior technical staff
- Assist with early build reviews by identifying practical assembly, fit, access, and serviceability considerations
- Troubleshoot build or test issues, escalate concerns clearly, and work with design teams to understand possible causes and next steps
- Other tasks as assigned by your manager
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and confidence working with tools, assemblies, hardware, and physical systems
- Experience with scientific testing and reporting (e.g., basic scientific method, technical lab reports, environmental testing standards)
- Strong technical reporting skills (written and spoken)
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, CAD views, BOMs, work instructions, and assembly information
- Comfort working through changing priorities, incomplete information, and hands-on development challenges
- Good attention to detail when building, testing, recording observations, and maintaining parts or equipment
- Ability to collaborate with designers, manufacturing staff, and other team members
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, follow direction, and take increasing ownership as experience grows
NICE TO HAVE
- Technical diploma, trades experience, engineering technology background, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience with prototype builds, mechanical assembly, test fixtures, shop work, product testing, or development hardware
- Exposure to marine, vehicle, ruggedized, or outdoor equipment deployments
- Experience supporting design revisions, build improvements, field trials, demos, or production transition activities
- Experience organizing tools, parts, materials, or inventory in a shop, lab, manufacturing, or R&D environment
WHO THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR
- Someone who prefers purely desk-based work with little hands-on building, troubleshooting, or testing
- Someone who is uncomfortable working through ambiguity, practical constraints, or evolving development needs
WHY WORK WITH CURRENT
- Part of a growing team in an evolving industry
- Great company culture, committed to a personally and professionally supportive environment
- Work/life balance, opportunities to stay active and social inside and outside office (games, ping pong, hiking, cycling, climbing, running, etc.)
- Young workforce with opportunities to learn as well as teach
- Health benefits
- Competitive salary
SALARY RANGE
$60,000 to $80,000 + benefits
