Service & Support Technician

Job Summary:

We are looking for a smart, driven, outgoing individual to join our company as a Service and Support Technician within our growing Application Engineering team. This will be a full-time permanent position at our Port Moody facility. The successful applicant will provide direct support to end users of our electro-optical systems and leadership on related process improvements (technical service, repairs, and quality assurance). This role is key to the continuous improvement of our products and quality management systems. Primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the engineering team to resolve support cases for global customers that span mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Facilitating efficient, frequent technical communication between customers and multiple internal teams (Sales, Production, Engineering)
  • Overseeing various system repairs and expanding our ability to perform and track system-level investigations
  • Leveraging technical observations and customer feedback to continuously improve our products and processes
  • Possible travel to international customer sites for technical demonstrations, servicing, and/or engineering support

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Grade 12 diploma required
  • (Preferred) Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent degree in Technical Writing or related field
  • Wide range of technical competency across engineering disciplines (e.g. electro-mechanical, software, reporting)
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to excel in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and tasks
  • Strong technical communication and reporting (spoken and written)
  • Familiarity with command line interfaces, network interfaces, and programming languages
  • High comfort level with basic technical equipment such as consumer electronics and computers
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Valid Canadian work permit or resident / citizen status

Additional Beneficial Skills: 

  • Customer experience and service in a technical role
  • Experience with electro-optical (EO) systems such as cameras, lasers, and thermal imaging
  • Comfort with advanced electronics systems (e.g., networks, PC builds, AV systems, hobby electronics)
  • Experience working within or developing ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Additional language skills (written and spoken): e.g., French, Korean, German, Mandarin, Cantonese
