Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Development Project Manager to support the Project Management Lead and Product Development Directors in planning and delivering projects across our product portfolio. This role combines strong project management fundamentals (scope, schedule, cost, quality, and communication) with the technical fluency needed to align multidisciplinary technical design work with business priorities. The successful candidate will:
Responsibilities:
- Lead complex product development projects end-to-end (plan, design, build, integrate, test/verify, and close-out).
- Build and maintain integrated plans (scope, schedule, resources, budget, milestones, and risks) and manage dependencies across teams.
- Run project cadence and reviews; provide clear status, forecasts, and escalations to stakeholders and Product Development Directors.
- Own project governance and documentation (charters, action/RAID logs, change control, and reporting) to enable timely decisions and ISO 9001-aligned execution.
- Coordinate cross-functional execution by tracking timelines, consolidating status updates, and maintaining standardized project reporting.
- Drive project health management through regular check-ins, early risk identification, and timely issue escalation/resolution.
- Establish and improve scalable ways of working, including design standards, core documentation requirements, and continuous process improvement.
- Partner with Product Development leadership to align priorities, advocate for resourcing, and support charter development through stakeholder input and approvals.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in project/program management or engineering project coordination in a technical environment (engineering/manufacturing/defence or similar)
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent technical education/experience)
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and facilitate technical discussions; strong stakeholder communication and alignment skills
- Strong planning and execution skills; able to maintain schedules, action items, and RAID logs and drive accountability
- Proactive problem-solver; able to distill complex information into clear written and verbal updates for technical and executive audiences
- Technical literacy to understand interfaces, trade-offs, and verification; comfortable with drawings, BOMs, specifications, and test reports
Additional Beneficial Skills
- Experience with PM tools/practices (e.g., Jira/Confluence, MS Project, Kanban/Gantt, RAID logs)
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and balancing portfolio priorities, dependencies, and resourcing
- Familiarity with engineering/manufacturing processes and controls (Lean, ISO, configuration/requirements management)
- Hands-on technical/R&D experience is an asset; PMP/CAPM/PRINCE2 (or equivalent) and additional languages are also assets
